Can an AI agent actually edit my video?
Short answer: yes, and not in the way the phrase usually means. Frapea does not generate footage from a prompt. It is a real editor that an agent drives — on the material you already shot — and it hands the timeline back to you still in pieces.

Can an AI agent actually edit my video?
Yes — Frapea is a full video editor that runs in a Chromium tab with an MCP server in front of it at https://app.frapea.com/mcp. You point Claude, Cursor or any MCP-capable agent at that endpoint, pair it with an eight-character code from the editor, and it calls 59 tools against your open project: blade, ripple, trim, move, retime, caption, track faces, switch angles, write titles, export. The edit appears in your tab while you watch. Nothing is queued and nothing is rendered somewhere else and sent back.

Does it generate the video, or edit footage I already have?
It edits footage you already have. Frapea does not generate video and does not pretend to — no synthesised shots, no prompt-to-clip. That is the whole distinction between this and most of what the phrase “AI video” returns: the material is yours, the agent's job is deciding what to keep, in what order, and how long to hold it. It can fetch licensed stock and generate a voiceover when a brief needs them, but it will not invent a shot of something that was never filmed.

How does it know whether the cut is any good?
It looks at it. inspect_timeline composites every video layer at the frames the agent asks for and hands back what actually plays — which clips contributed pixels to each frame, and a fingerprint of the image. A caption that overflowed its box, a title that never resolved, an offline clip rendering black: all of those look perfect in a description of the timeline and are obvious in the frames. This is the part that separates editing from arranging, and it is the reason an agent can find its own mistake before you find it on export.

What do I get back — a file, or something I can still change?
A real multitrack timeline in a real editor. Clips, tracks, transitions, keyframes and effects, all of it selectable and draggable, and every edit the agent made is a single undo step. If it put the drone shot in the wrong place you move the drone shot; you do not re-prompt and wait. When you are finished you export MP4 or WebM up to 4K with SRT and VTT sidecars, with no watermark.
